Welcome to the website of the Danish Embassy in Jakarta.
Regular trade and cooperation between Indonesia and Denmark have taken place for more than 150 years. Danish sail borne traders from former times have now changed into modern containerships and airborne business people. But the bilateral relations between Denmark and Indonesia remain strong.
Indonesia and Denmark is cooperating in the field of environment, energy and climate change. Denmark is supporting the Environmental Support Programme valued at DKK 220 million from 2008 to 2012. The programme supports Indonesian efforts to improve the environmental management and has a strong element of promoting energy efficiency and sustainable energy solutions to the benefit of the people as well as the climate. A major part of the programme addresses directly the livelihood of the people in the rural areas by providing funds for green energy solutions to the districts.
Denmark is cooperating with Indonesian NGOs in order to fortify the foundations of democracy and good governance in Indonesia. The programme aims at strengthening democratic and civic values as well as supporting the fight against corruption and terrorism. The present programme runs until 2013 with a total budget of DKK 50 million.
Since mid 2009, the Business-to-Business (B2B) Environment Programme has been active in Indonesia. The programme aims at developing the private sector by supporting the establishment of long-term and sustainable partnerships between Indonesian and Danish companies working in the environment and sustainable energy sector. It provides grants to assist Indonesian companies to gain access to Danish technology and know-how and increase their competitiveness. At the same time, Danish companies can also gain access to new markets, products and production opportunities. There are currently exciting partnership projects supported by this programme, and the B2B Environment Programme is actively looking for companies who are interested to participate.
Danish exports to Indonesia amounts to app. ½ billion DKK annually; half of Danish imports from Indonesia. The Indonesian Government is seeking to attract foreign investments. Reforms in various sectors are underway in support thereof. The Embassy can assist Danish companies in determining if Indonesia is a market for your company to promote sales or make investments in. A bilateral agreement between Denmark and Indonesia on the protection and promotion of foreign investments have been signed to further increase investment from Denmark.
